KHJA was founded in 1981 as the Northeast Kansas Hunter Association (NKHA). Upon the merger of KHJA and GPHA, the name changed to Kansas Hunter Jumper Associations on January 8th, 2022.

The objectives of this association are:

a) To further the education of the membership in all aspects pertaining to hunter and jumper competitions

b) To establish and promote a uniform body of rules governing the conduct of horse shows sponsored or sanctioned by the association

c) To ensure the fair enforcement of such rules for the common benefit of all participant

d) To further the art of riding and to promote and encourage positive equestrian sportsmanship
